Imagined Cities: Urban Futures Prototyped through Film

  • 0 films

Co-presented with Open House Melbourne and the Naomi Milgrom Foundation.

Speculative architect and director Liam Young curates a free program of short films exploring alternative urban futures.

The fictional cities of film and animation have always been a site in which to prototype new scenarios and emerging cultures. In their speculative streets, we play out multiple, unexpected, unintended futures and their associated social and political imaginaries. These designed worlds give form to our most wondrous technological possibilities and gravest concerns.

Join Liam Young; director, architect, and Director of SCI Arc’s acclaimed Fiction & Entertainment Masters program in Los Angeles for a short film program of animated cities and fictional worlds. Drawn from Young’s network of graduates and international collaborators, each film will be a window into an alternative urban future, simultaneously an extraordinary image of tomorrow and a provocative examination of the pertinent questions that are facing us today.

Presented to coincide with the Open House Melbourne Weekend and the Living Cities Forum.

Available from Fri 23 Jul at 5pm - Mon 26 Jul 11:59pm.
