As Summer becomes Winter, as the nights get colder, it is the perfect time to curl up on the couch with Autumn Chills, Thrills and Kills, a creepy, unnerving, tense season of horror thrillers from around the world, and the lesser-known corners of cinema.
Our programs showcases the different kinds of horror and thrillers, ranging from the psychological to the psychedelic, from the realistic to the surreal, exploring and displaying the ways in which filmmakers imbue horror and thrillers from different regions of the world, and by tapping into the very depths of the human psyche to haunt audiences. It can be a shot, an atmosphere, theme, subject matter, or even the way the picture leaves you as the credits roll – cinema has the capability to unsettle audiences to their very bones.
Whether it is the unhinged drug fuelled nightmare of Climax, the existential dread of She Dies Tomorrow, the grief-stricken paranoia of Don’t Look Now, the hard metal, demonic psychedelia of Mandy, or the melancholic atmosphere of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, these filmmakers tap into the primordial emotionality of mankind, and EXPLORE the human condition in a way that leaves a discomforting impression long after viewing.
