Sing for the Lonely

J is a 20-year-old aspiring musician, living alone and struggling to find connection. One night, she has a romantic dream, and is left with the sense that something is missing from her life.

As she tries to get on with her day, J’s feelings of loneliness and inadequacy become harder to ignore, and her usual comforts only seem to remind her of what she doesn’t have. To reconnect with the world around her, J will need to find a way to channel her emotions into her music.

Director Biography

Eryn Seaton photo

Eryn Seaton is an emerging filmmaker, writer, animator and artist from regional Victoria, currently based in Melbourne. Eryn has a deep passion for the arts, with experience in theatre, dance, music, visual art, film and TV. Eryn enjoys experimenting with different mediums of animation and is known for character-driven narratives that explore elements of the human condition.

Her first two films Forget the World (Then Carry On) and The Theorist subtly explore the themes of loneliness and isolation. Eryn is inspired by writers such as Greta Gerwig (Little Women, Lady Bird) and Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls, the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and directors Wes Anderson and Steven Spielberg.

She created animation for a theatre production of the Greek tragedy Antigone, where she worked in collaboration with VCA Theatre. She has been a featured animator in Science Gallery’s Dark Matters event, and she’s had work screened in the Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks.
