The Current
Arriving on a cruise ship as though pulled by an invisible string, senior citizen Donald discovers an apparent murder scene. While searching for answers, he finds a second body, and an emergency is declared.
When it becomes clear that the murderer is not of flesh and blood, that Donald is next in line to be killed and that the ship’s captain is a ferryman carrying his passengers to the afterlife, he and the other elderly tourists decide to make a break for it.

Director Biography
Alasdair Keith Gardiner is a filmmaker hailing from a suburb in Brisbane called The Gap - as much a void in space and time as the name suggests. Having lived in Brazil, where little old ladies would often plonk themselves down next to him to tell him their life stories, and in Germany, where folk would surpass stereotypes by telling many-a-story in an open and friendly way, Alasdair has now settled within the rich tapestry of Melbourne, where he intends to stay.
Through collaboration with artists of forceful sensibilities, Alasdair aims to build his local body of work, which he has begun by undertaking a Master of Film and Television degree at the VCA. Often driven to make quirky comedies, with sombre tones, in the hope of bringing light and laughter to some of the grimmer aspects of life, Alasdair endeavours to continue crafting his acquired vision into audiovisual storytelling.
