Threshold

8m Short, Deaf and disabled 2023

A Deaf woman crosses the threshold of sound and no sound multiple times a day. Threshold is a deeply personal exploration of what it means to have machines as part of your body. The acceptance of a cochlear implant is not an automatic, seamless entry to a world of sound but rather a chaotic wash of understanding. The discovery of what she can hear is astonishing and welcome, as long as she can return the deep silence that fills her to the brim. It is acceptance of silence as radical joy.
