When I Fade Away
Every bleak winter evening, Mike feels an overwhelming urge to escape from home – while his daughter Minnie, as always, helplessly tries to stop him. Lost in the fog of his fading mind, he struggles to understand what he’s doing, or why he’s even alive.
One day, he discovers that Minnie has secretly contacted an aged-care home. In a desperate attempt to preserve his pride, he lashes out, unleashing years of suppressed frustration on her. By the time he realises his mistake, it’s already too late.
Racked with guilt and desperate to escape the trauma he’s inflicted on his daughter, Mike drifts through karaoke bars, museums and parks, meeting a sketch artist whose life mirrors his own struggles with loss. However, he’s unsure whether this is illusion or reality…
