Faces Places

1h 29m Documentary 2017

Legendary filmmaker Agnès Varda hits the road with artist JR in this heartwarming documentary.

Agnès Varda’s unique cinematic vision has earned her a loyal following of fervent cinephiles from around the world, while photographer and muralist JR has over a million faithful followers on his Instagram account, which features his iconic large-scale portraits. Their popularity isn’t the only thing they have in common. When long-time Varda devotee JR met Agnès at her home on Rue Daguerre, they both immediately knew that they wanted to work together.

Faces Places documents their heart-warming journey through rural France and the unlikely, tender friendship they form along the way. In the process, it provides a richly detailed portrait of the places and people they encounter and movingly speaks to the profound and ephemeral nature of art.
