Mad Max 2

1h 35m Action, Science Fiction, Adventure 1981

In the post-apocalyptic Australian wasteland, a cynical drifter agrees to help a small, gasoline-rich community escape a horde of bandits.

George Miller’s Mad Max 2 has enduring significance for the global and Australian cinema landscape, effectively launching a new genre of post-apocalyptic action cinema that paved the way for generations of filmmakers to come, with the film’s kinetic energy and action scenes standing apart from other Ozploitation films of the 1970s and ‘80s.

From the series’ beginning in the 80s, Miller returned in 2015 with Fury Road, starring Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult. The film is highly regarded by the international film community, and is the only in the series to receive Academy Award wins. The series returns next year with Furiosa currently in production.
