Taking Roots (Music) To Australia – An Irish and Ghanaian Celebration

18m Dance, Music, Documentary 2022

In May 2023, a group of Ghanaian drummers teamed up with an Irish céilí band to share tunes and experiences about moving to Australia. The project culminated in a joyous night of rhythm and melody at the Gaelic Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills. This energetic and fun documentary goes beneath the surface to explore the stories of migration from two communities who find pleasure and solace in their exuberant musical artistry; showing that the experiences of migration to Australia are similar whether one comes from Accra or Ballybunion!
