The Knight
Claude (Isadora Sweeney) has urges that need to be explored — in private. It’s just another Wednesday night and Mum’s clattering in the kitchen, asking too many questions. Claude needs out. She slips into her room, locks the door, and pulls up a picture of her latest crush. That cute boy from school (Sidney Debba). Kind of dreamy. Kind of heroic.
The Knight is a surreal romantic comedy created in collaboration with disabled artists. It explores the rich, sensual fantasy life of a young woman with Down syndrome. The film is funny, bold, and unapologetically hot. A story about claiming independence, turning fantasy into agency, and asserting the right to be a sexual being — even when your Mum’s in the next room. Isadora Sweeney and Sidney Debba’s performances light up a delicious world of desire and fantasy.
Isadora and Sidney are Company dancers at the acclaimed Restless Dance Theatre in South Australia.
Lotte Sweeney is an Adelaide director and writer whose work explores characters in moments of emergence, disillusionment and becoming.
