The Noise of Clay
In grief over the loss of his child, artist Leon creates a breathing clay sculpture in his studio. He promises the unfinished figure that it will soon be complete, and together they dream of life outdoors. But when memories of his child resurface, Leon retreats behind a wall of boxes that contain remnants of his former life.
As the hope of a life in the outside world fractures, the clay figure takes desperate steps to make itself heard – to make the noise of clay.

Director bio:
Charlie Davis is a Melbourne-based filmmaker whose work explores memory, grief and the fragile relationship between creator and creation. Currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film and Television) at the Victorian College of the Arts, he has developed a body of short films that charts a journey from outcome-driven storytelling to a practice rooted in the creative process, curiosity and vulnerability.
For Charlie, film is not only a craft but the place where he reveals and understands himself most clearly, a medium where music, image and story converge to create something unknown. Drawing from deep within his own experience, his work seeks to evoke feelings that allow audiences to reflect on their own lives. This exploration culminates in his graduating film, The Noise of Clay, his most mature and thoughtful work to date.
